Dress professionally and conservatively

Know what you want to say

Address the judge as "Your Honor"
Stand when speaking
Be respectful even if you disagree
Stay calm and composed
Only speak when asked
Do not interupt
Be honest - lying will hurt your case
🏢 After Court:
Request copies of all court orders
Ask your lawyer to explain anything unclear
Follow through on any new requirements immediately
Document what happend in court (date, time, what was said, and all other important information
🔴 When to Escalate Concerns:
Contact the Child Welfare Ombudsman if:
You believe your child is in danger in their placement or if you have concerns regarding your child
Workers are not following court orders
If you feel any of your rights or your child's rights have been violated
Your being denied court-ordered visits
You cannot get information about your child
You believe workers are lying or falsifying records or if you're told records can't be found
